Robot Training Jobs That Take Beginners

On 31 Oct 2026, 90.1% of open robot training roles (1,036) had an entry-level title (those that post an hourly rate offer a median of $27/hr), and 82.0% of the roles with a full description required no degree, years of experience or professional licence, though 50.3% of those still required a driver's license.

What the data shows

  1. 1

1,036 of the 1,150 robot training roles open on 31 Oct 2026 (90.1%) have an entry-level title: no seniority or management word, no level above the first and no engineering, research or expert role.

    Figure 1
  2. 2

A further 5 open roles (0.4%) are kept out only by a level number in the title ('Operator II', 'Tier 2'); counted in, entry-level titles would be 90.5% of open roles.

    Figure 2
  3. 3

By count, AV & Drone Operators leads with 502 entry-level roles (92.3% of its open roles); by share, Robot Teleoperation leads at 96.3%.

    Figure 1
  4. 4

Entry-level roles advertise a median $27/hr against $25/hr for other roles; matched by kind of work, their rates sit 2.7% more than those of other roles.

    Figure 4
  5. 5

82.0% of the 1,150 roles with a full description require no degree, years of experience or professional licence.

    Figure 5
  6. 6

251 descriptions (21.8%) say the employer trains new hires or that no prior experience is needed, though 8.8% of them still require a degree, years of experience or a professional licence.

    Figure 6
  7. 7

118 of the 1,150 descriptions (10.3%) openly invite beginners, whether by saying no experience or degree is needed, offering training, calling the role entry level, or welcoming students and graduates; yet 0 of those 118 carry a title above entry level.

    Figure 6
  8. 8

Of the roles that state no requirement, 50.3% still require a driver's license and 14.8% a background check or drug test; among those giving hours, the median comes to 40 a week.

An entry-level title names no seniority or management word, no level above the first (II, III, Tier 2) and no engineering, research or expert role: the same title test as this site's entry-level jobs page.

It reads what a posting signals, not what it takes to be accepted: a role with an entry-level title can still require a licence, a minimum age or a lifting limit, or state a requirement only in its description.

Median pay uses the hourly rate each entry-level posting advertises (the midpoint when a range is given). It appears only once 3 or more of those roles name a rate.

A row with under 34.1 open roles carries a small-sample mark and is left unranked: under that count, the average across all rows says more than the row's own open roles do (a weight fitted on the counts themselves).

One title can trip more than one signal and is counted under each. The final column shows roles held back by that signal and nothing else, which tells you how much weight each word carries on its own.

'Supervisor' after a machine ('Remote Vehicle Supervisor') supervises a robot or a vehicle, not people, and does not count as a seniority word.

Base: Titles of the 1,150 roles still open as 31 Oct 2026 closed. Listings only.

An employer's share follows its own title style as much as its work: an employer that numbers its levels in titles ('Operator II') has fewer entry-level titles here than one that does not.

A row with under 3.2 open roles carries a small-sample mark and is left unranked: under that count, the average across all rows says more than the row's own open roles do (a weight fitted on the counts themselves).

Base: Open roles with an hourly rate as 31 Oct 2026 closed, in kinds of work where each side has 3 or more priced roles.

The top row's gap compares like with like: in each kind of work, the median entry-level rate is divided by the median for its other roles and one is subtracted, then the results are averaged with weights set by entry-level role counts (the method of the pay premiums report). The two medians beside it pool every kind and are there for context.

A row is flagged when either side has under 3 priced roles.

These are the rates postings quote. What someone actually takes home after task rates, pay tiers or unpaid qualification hours is a separate figure.

Read with the requirements report's reader, which counts requirements only: a degree or licence named as a preference ('a CDL is a plus') does not count.

A degree offered with an alternative ('or equivalent experience') counts on its own line; both degree lines count as stating a requirement, so 'no stated requirement' is a cautious count.

Many employers post one description per city, so a large employer's template weighs on the shares.

Buy the data behind this report

This report sums up records we gather ourselves, day after day:

  • 1,432 robot training roles followed, history included

Every role on 100 employer job boards, read each day since 12 Sep 2026: its pay, its place, and the first and last day it was up.

  • 536 apply clicks over 28 days

Which robot training roles people really apply to, by kind of work, pay and place. The clicks happen here, so no one else can count them.

  • 25 sourced industry datasets

Funding, revenue, deals, fleets, deployments and prices across the robot training industry, each record linked to the publication it comes from.

On offer

  • The raw records

Every robot training role we track: title, employer, place, kind of work, pay as stated, and the days it was first and last open.

Robot hiring brief: free, once a month

The robot-training job market in figures, on the first weekday of each month: open roles, what opened and closed, who added and who cut, and posted pay by kind of work. To your work email.

How it was measured

Every day this site reads the public job boards of the robot training employers and programs it follows. Description text is available only from employers whose boards post it in full. A single database query produces each figure for the window shown, and the live page and every monthly edition run that identical query. The note under each figure gives its base.

Entry-level title
A title naming no seniority or management word (senior, lead, supervisor, manager, principal, staff, head, director), no level above the first (II, III, IV, Level 2, Tier 2) and no engineering, research or expert role (engineer, scientist, researcher, architect, PhD, expert). It is the title test of this site's entry-level jobs page. 'Supervisor' after a machine ('Remote Vehicle Supervisor') supervises a robot or a vehicle, not people, and does not count.
No stated requirement
A full description that requires no college degree (alone or with an alternative), no years of work experience and no professional licence (a CDL, an FAA Part 107 certificate or a pilot license), read with the requirements report's reader. A driver's license is counted on its own line and not as a professional requirement.
Entry statement
A description that says no experience, degree or robotics background is needed, that training is provided, that the role is entry level, or that students, graduates or beginners are welcome. Each is a published pattern. A high school diploma is counted on its own line, as the education asked for.
Within-kind pay gap
In each kind of work with 3 or more priced roles on each side, divide the median advertised rate for entry-level roles by the median for all other roles and subtract one. Average across kinds, weighting by entry-level roles, using the same method as the pay premiums report.
Advertised pay
The hourly rate a listing gives, using the midpoint of any range. A median requires 3 or more roles with a stated rate.
Open role
On a given day, a role that has been posted and still shows in the employer's feed.
Kind of work
A role's title and description place it in one of the seven kinds of robot training work this site follows, ranging from robot teleoperation and demonstration collection through egocentric capture, embodied-AI annotation, robot evaluation and fleet operations to AV and drone operation. Each kind has a page of its own.

Limits of this data

  • Hiring that happens without a public job board is not captured.
  • An entry-level title is a reading of what a title signals, not a promise of acceptance: such a role can still require a licence, a minimum age, a lifting limit or a background check in its description.
  • Large employers often reuse one description per city, so their template carries extra weight in any share drawn from descriptions.
  • Oddly worded requirements can slip past the patterns. Nothing beyond the written text is assumed, so a requirement that is not mentioned counts as unknown rather than absent.
  • Pay is what postings advertise, not what workers earn after overtime, shift differentials or unpaid training time.

Collection and classification of listings are explained on the methodology page. Freshness, completeness and consistency are tested daily in the data quality report.

Monthly editions

The live page spans the 28 most recent full days and updates daily. Every finished month also gets its own edition, locked two days after month end, so a number quoted from it stays fixed.

  • Live page28 most recent full days, rebuilt daily
  • October 2026 edition (you are here)Will lock when the next daily refresh runs
