Shifts named in today's titles: day or morning 2, afternoon or swing 2, night 2.

Robot Teleoperation

9 open

Remotely pilot a physical robot, through a VR headset, a leader-follower arm, a joystick, or a haptic rig, so its motions become training demonstrations, or step in to guide an autonomous robot when it stalls. This is one entry point into robot training: humanoid labs run teleoperation shifts around the clock, and gaming or VR familiarity often matters more than a degree.

Data & Demonstration Collection

5 open

Produce the physical demonstrations a robot learns from directly: teleoperated demos, kinesthetic teaching (guiding the robot's arms by hand), bimanual ALOHA-style rigs, and provided-hardware capture. On-site studio operators are the backbone of every humanoid data engine, and the work needs dexterity and consistency rather than a technical background.

Robot Fleet Operations

2 open

Keep deployed robots running in the real world: remotely monitor and teleassist delivery and service robots when they get stuck, and work on-street as an attendant who retrieves, resets, and recharges units. Interventions may supply edge cases for further evaluation and training, and the work splits between remote-from-home monitoring and in-city on-site shifts.

Before you apply

Working with a humanoid is physical, on-site shift work even when you control the robot through a headset. Check the shift and whether it pays a differential, how long you stand and what you lift, and whether the job is at the maker's lab or at a customer's warehouse or factory. Applying to any job here costs nothing, and no real employer will ask you to pay.

Every company here calls its robot a humanoid in its own words. 5 of them have hands-on roles open on this board today; the others hire for the same work from time to time, so their pages keep their facts and you can follow them.

Frequently asked questions

What does a humanoid robot operator do?

Most of the work is making the robot do a task, again and again, so it can learn it. A pilot or operator controls the humanoid, often through a VR headset and hand controllers or a capture rig, while it records what you do; on site, an operator runs the robot through its daily workflow, watches for failures and logs them. Data collectors at some makers wear the capture gear themselves, and service technicians keep the fleet running. Each posting states its own duties, and the makers section above says what each company's people do.

How much do humanoid robot operators make?

The middle half of the hourly rates these postings state runs $29 to $32 an hour, with a median of $30 (11 distinct advertised rates from 3 employers, read today). The highest rate posted is $65 an hour (Figure AI, Robot Service Technician (Morning Shift)). Advertised pay is not guaranteed earnings, so check shift differentials and contract terms.

Can you do humanoid robot work from home?

Almost never. None of the 16 humanoid robot roles open today is listed as remote. The robots, the capture rigs and the safety staff are in a lab, a test site or a customer's building, so even piloting a humanoid through a headset is done on site. For work you can do from home, see the remote robot training jobs page.

What shifts do humanoid robot operators work?

Humanoid fleets run long days, so many roles are posted per shift. Today's open titles name these shifts: day or morning (2), afternoon or swing (2), night (2). Whether a later shift pays more, and how long you stand during it, is in each posting.

Do you need a degree or robotics experience?

Usually not a degree. None of today's open humanoid postings requires a college degree outright, and 2 say they train you or need no prior experience. What makers ask for instead is reliability, comfort with hardware and VR, attention over a long shift and the stamina to stand and lift (up to 50 lb in the postings that say). Some on-site roles want robot or mechanical troubleshooting experience; separate required skills from preferred ones.

How do I get a job at Tesla Optimus as a data collection operator?

Tesla hires Optimus Data Collection Operators directly on its own careers site, which blocks automated reading, so those openings are not listed here. A copy of the posting from May 2026 listed $25.25 to $34.50 an hour plus stock, a height of 5'7" to 6', and walking more than seven hours a day in a motion-capture suit carrying up to 30 lb, in Palo Alto. Search Tesla's careers site for "Optimus" and confirm the current terms there. The other makers on this page hire for similar work and their openings are listed above.
