Who can join

South San Francisco, CA (headquarters); test and flight roles at its sites, among them Amarillo, TX and Esparto and Half Moon Bay, CA

What people praise

  • Test site jobs are direct, benefited roles: the Amarillo, TX flight test operator posting lists overtime pay, equity, medical, dental and vision cover and paid time off.
  • A current flight test operator of more than a year (Glassdoor) named vesting equity, the hands-on experience and an inclusive team as pros.
  • A technician in Dallas, where Zipline flies Walmart orders, praised the pay in the latest of Zipline's 3 Dallas reviews on Glassdoor, though not the management.

What people complain about

  • Flight operators in Accra, Ghana (Glassdoor, 2022 and 2024) cite little career progression, staff afraid to raise concerns and poor local management.
  • A current flight test operator (Glassdoor) cited no work-life balance and nepotism in promotions; another, in 2022, said the pay was low for the work expected.
  • A flight operations worker of 3+ years in Lagos, Nigeria (Glassdoor) said country operations teams are the lowest paid group at Zipline and that the atmosphere turns toxic over time.
  • A former engineer of 3+ years (Glassdoor, June 2025) described constant changes of direction and layoffs that gutted teams. We found no news report or WARN notice of Zipline layoffs from 2023 to 2026.

What has gone wrong

  • November 2025. Zipline halted 3 of its 6 Ghana distribution centers (Anum, Sefwi-Wiawso and Kete-Krachi) from November 25, 2025, citing years of late government payments; it put the 2025 arrears at more than GH¢174 million. It called the halt temporary. Reports did not say what happened to staff at those sites.
  • December 2025. Ghana's health minister said the state pays $88,000 per center a month under a take-or-pay deal, whatever the volume. A ministerial review found only 16% of flights were emergency or hard-to-reach deliveries, and the Majority Leader called for the contract to be canceled. The terms were under review.
  • September 2026. Zipline P2 delivery drones came down by parachute in Greenville, TX on July 26 and onto Highway 6 in Cypress, near Houston, on September 4, 2026. No one was hurt; Zipline said the Houston cause was not yet known. It has not published how often its drones have come down in US service.
Who it suits

Best for: FAA Part 107 holders near Amarillo, TX or Esparto or Half Moon Bay, CA who want a full-time, benefited test flight job outdoors and can work weekends and nights and lift 50 lb. Not for: Anyone who needs regular daytime hours or a permanent job from day one: DropBox field tech roles start as six-month contracts and need your own car and a clean 3-year driving record.
