- 3
0.7% of entry-level roles are open to applicants worldwide, against 5.3% of other roles.
Figure 1
Entry-level roles, by kind of work
How many open robot training roles have an entry-level title: no seniority, level or engineering word?
| Kind of work | Entry-level share | Entry-level roles | Median pay, entry-level roles |
|---|---|---|---|
| All kinds of work | 97.4% | 726 | $26 |
| Egocentric & Wearable Capture | 100.0% | 125 | $9 |
| Robot Fleet Operations | 100.0% | 99 | $22 |
| AV & Drone Operators | 97.7% | 343 | $35 |
| Robot Teleoperation | 97.7% | 84 | $27 |
| Data & Demonstration Collection | 92.1% | 58 | $25 |
| Robot Task Evaluation & QA | 90.9% | 10 | n/a |
| Embodied-AI Data Annotation | 70.0% | 7 | n/a |
Sample. 745 roles open at the end of 9 Oct 2026, read from their titles.
An entry-level title names no seniority or management word, no level above the first (II, III, Tier 2) and no engineering, research or expert role: the same title test as this site's entry-level jobs page.
It reads what a posting signals, not what it takes to be accepted: a role with an entry-level title can still require a licence, a minimum age or a lifting limit, or state a requirement only in its description.
Median pay: the advertised hourly rate (the middle of a stated range) of the entry-level roles that state one, shown with at least 8 such roles.

Figure 2
What marks a title as more than entry level
What in a robot training role's title signals that it wants experience?
| Signal | Share of open roles | Roles |
|---|---|---|
| The title has a seniority or management word (senior, lead, supervisor, manager, principal, staff, head, director) | 2.3% | 17 |
| The title has a level above the first (II, III, IV, Level 2, Tier 2) | 0.1% | 1 |
| The title has an engineering, research or expert role (engineer, scientist, researcher, architect, PhD, expert) | 0.1% | 1 |
| None of these: an entry-level title | 97.4% | 726 |
Sample. 745 roles open at the end of 9 Oct 2026, read from their titles.
A role can carry several signals and counts for each; the last column counts the roles a signal alone keeps out, so it shows how much each word decides.
'Supervisor' after a machine ('Remote Vehicle Supervisor') supervises a robot or a vehicle, not people, and does not count as a seniority word.

Sample. 745 roles open at the end of 9 Oct 2026, read from their titles. Listings only.
An employer's share follows its own title style as much as its work: an employer that numbers its levels in titles ('Operator II') has fewer entry-level titles here than one that does not.

Figure 4
What entry-level roles pay, against other roles of the same kind
How much less do roles with an entry-level title pay than other roles in the same kind of work?
| Kind of work | Entry-level pay against other roles | Median, entry-level | Median, other roles |
|---|---|---|---|
| All kinds compared (within kind)Small sample | n/a | $26 | $28 |
Sample. Roles open at the end of 9 Oct 2026 that state an hourly rate; kinds of work with at least 5 priced roles on both sides.
First row: the gap is the within-kind comparison (each kind's median entry-level rate over its median for other roles, minus one, averaged across kinds weighted by the entry-level roles), as in the pay premiums report; its two medians are across all kinds, for context.
Rows with fewer than 8 priced roles on either side are marked.
Advertised pay is what a posting states, not what a worker earns after task rates, tiers or unpaid qualification time.

Figure 5
What the descriptions ask for
How many robot training roles require no degree, no years of experience and no professional licence?
| The description | Share of roles read | Roles | Entry-level titles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Requires a college degree, no alternative | n/a | 0 | n/a |
| Requires a degree or experience instead | n/a | 0 | n/a |
| Requires years of work experience | n/a | 0 | n/a |
| Requires 3 years or more | n/a | 0 | n/a |
| Requires a CDL, a Part 107 certificate or a pilot license | n/a | 0 | n/a |
| None of these: no stated requirement | n/a | 0 | n/a |
Sample. 0 roles open on 9 Oct 2026 whose job board publishes a full description, 0.0% of all open roles; 0 of them have an entry-level title.
Read with the requirements report's reader, which counts requirements only: a degree or licence named as a preference ('a CDL is a plus') does not count.
A degree offered with an alternative ('or equivalent experience') counts on its own line; both degree lines count as stating a requirement, so 'no stated requirement' is a cautious count.
Many employers post one description per city, so a large employer's template weighs on the shares.

Figure 6
What descriptions say outright about beginners
How many robot training roles say plainly that no experience or degree is needed?
| Statement | Roles | Share of roles read | Still mention a degree, years or credential |
|---|---|---|---|
| Any statement that a beginner may apply | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| No experience needed | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| No prior robotics or driving-automation experience needed | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| No degree required | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| Training provided | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| Entry level, or a low barrier to entry | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| Students, graduates or beginners welcome | 0 | n/a | n/a |
| Asks for a high school diploma or equivalent | 0 | n/a | n/a |
Sample. 0 roles open on 9 Oct 2026 whose job board publishes a full description, 0.0% of all open roles.
Each statement is a published pattern over the description (ENTRY_PATTERNS in the method). The first row counts any of them except the high school line, which states the education asked for rather than an opening for beginners.

Figure 7
What roles with no stated requirement still ask
If a role asks for no degree or experience, what does it still expect from applicants?
| The description mentions | No stated requirement | States a requirement |
|---|---|---|
| A driver's license | n/a | n/a |
| A minimum age of 21 or more | n/a | n/a |
| Lifting 50 lbs or more | n/a | n/a |
| A background check (required) or a drug test | n/a | n/a |
| An assessment, test or trial task | n/a | n/a |
| Night, weekend or rotating shifts | n/a | n/a |
| Standing or walking for long periods | n/a | n/a |
| A number of hours a week | n/a | n/a |
| 20 hours a week or more | n/a | n/a |
Sample. 0 roles whose description states no degree, years of experience or credential, against 0 that state one: 0 roles open on 9 Oct 2026 whose job board publishes a full description, 0.0% of all open roles.
Read with the requirements report's patterns. The hours row counts the lower figure of a stated range ('10 to 20 hours' is 10).

Figure 8
No stated requirement, by kind of work
In which kinds of robot training work do descriptions most often ask for no degree or experience, and what do those roles pay?
No data in this window.
Sample. 0 roles open on 9 Oct 2026 whose job board publishes a full description, 0.0% of all open roles.
Medians need at least 8 roles stating an hourly rate. Rows with fewer than 10 roles read are marked.

Method and definitions
The public job boards of the robot training employers and programs this site tracks, read every day. Descriptions come from the employers whose boards publish them in full. Every figure is computed by one database query over the window shown, the same query for the live report and for every edition. Each figure states its sample beneath it.
- Entry-level title
- A title naming no seniority or management word (senior, lead, supervisor, manager, principal, staff, head, director), no level above the first (II, III, IV, Level 2, Tier 2) and no engineering, research or expert role (engineer, scientist, researcher, architect, PhD, expert). It is the title test of this site's entry-level jobs page. 'Supervisor' after a machine ('Remote Vehicle Supervisor') supervises a robot or a vehicle, not people, and does not count.
- No stated requirement
- A full description that requires no college degree (alone or with an alternative), no years of work experience and no professional licence (a CDL, an FAA Part 107 certificate or a pilot license), read with the requirements report's reader. A driver's license is counted on its own line and not as a professional requirement.
- Entry statement
- A description that says no experience, degree or robotics background is needed, that training is provided, that the role is entry level, or that students, graduates or beginners are welcome. Each is a published pattern. A high school diploma is counted on its own line, as the education asked for.
- Within-kind pay gap
- For each kind of work with at least 5 priced roles on both sides, the median advertised rate of entry-level roles over the median of other roles, minus one; averaged across kinds, weighted by the entry-level roles, as in the pay premiums report.
- Advertised pay
- The hourly figure a posting states (the middle of a stated range). Medians need at least 8 roles stating a rate.
- Open role
- A role listed by a given day and still in its employer's feed that day.
- Kind of work
- Each role is classified from its title and description into one of the seven kinds of robot training work this site tracks, from robot teleoperation and demonstration collection to egocentric capture, embodied-AI annotation, robot evaluation, fleet operations and AV and drone operation. Every kind links to its own page.
What this data cannot tell you
- Employers that recruit without a public job board are not counted.
- An entry-level title is a reading of what a title signals, not a promise of acceptance: such a role can still require a licence, a minimum age, a lifting limit or a background check in its description.
- Many employers post one description per city, so a large employer's template weighs on every share read from descriptions.
- A pattern can miss a requirement phrased in an unusual way; nothing is inferred beyond what the text says, and an unstated requirement is unknown, not absent.
- Pay is what postings advertise, not what workers earn after overtime, shift differentials or unpaid training time.
How the job feeds are read and roles are classified: site methodology. How fresh, complete and consistent the data is, checked every day: data quality and coverage.
Editions
The live report covers the last 28 complete days and changes every day. Each complete month is also published as an edition, frozen two days after the month ends, so a figure you cite from an edition never moves.
