What the data shows
- 2
Pay was most often stated for Robot Fleet Operations roles (47.3%) and least often for Egocentric & Wearable Capture roles (21.6%).
- 3
Every posting carried a rate at 32 of the 100 employers with enough open roles to stand on their own; Workstream named one on none of its 1 roles.
- 6
Data & Demonstration Collection had the broadest posted ranges, with the ceiling at 1.37x the floor; Robot Teleoperation had the tightest (1.2x).
- 7
In US states whose law requires pay in job ads, 67.3% of the 220 on-site robot training postings open on 31 Oct 2026 stated pay; in the other states, 37.6% of 362 did.
- 8
PlusAI stated pay on 1 of its 1 postings in those states and on 0 of its 1 elsewhere.
Figure 1
Share of postings that name an hourly rate, per kind of work
In which kinds of robot training work can you see the pay before applying?
| Kind of work | Roles stating an hourly rate | Open roles | |

| Robot Task Evaluation & QASmall sample | 22.2% | 9 | 2 |
| Egocentric & Wearable Capture | 21.6% | 134 | 29 |
Base: 1,150 roles live on 31 Oct 2026, of which 349 name an hourly rate.
A posting counts as stating pay if it gives an hourly number or an hourly range. Per-task or per-project pay, or no figure at all, does not count.
A row with under 23.8 open roles carries a small-sample mark and is left unranked: under that count, the average across all rows says more than the row's own open roles do (a weight fitted on the counts themselves).

Figure 4
Spread of posted pay ranges in each kind of work
For postings that quote a range, what is the gap between its floor and its ceiling?
| Kind of work | Top of range / bottom | Median width | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Data & Demonstration Collection | 1.37x | $9 | 85.2% | 54 |
| Egocentric & Wearable Capture | 1.33x | $6 | 41.4% | 29 |
| Robot Fleet Operations | 1.28x | $7 | 45.5% | 112 |
| AV & Drone Operators | 1.21x | $5 | 64.8% | 122 |
| Robot Teleoperation | 1.20x | $5 | 43.5% | 23 |

| Robot Task Evaluation & QASmall sample | n/a | n/a | 50.0% | 2 |
Base: Priced roles live on 31 Oct 2026. Medians use only those quoting a true range, with the ceiling above the floor.
At 2.00x, a typical range tops out at double its floor. Where a given worker ends up inside that range is settled only after qualifying.
A median requires 3 or more roles with a range.

Figure 5
How the posted median moved across the window
Is posted pay for robot training work heading up or down?
| Kind of work | Median on 1 Oct 2026 | Median on 31 Oct 2026 | Change | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All kinds of work | $28 | $28 | -0.9% | 108 |
| AV & Drone Operators | $30 | $34 | +11.2% | 44 |
| Robot Fleet Operations | $26 | $26 | -1.0% | 32 |
| Robot Teleoperation | $30 | $28 | -6.7% | 13 |
| Data & Demonstration Collection | $28 | $25 | -9.1% | 11 |
| Embodied-AI Data Annotation | $31 | $9 | -71.0% | 5 |
| Egocentric & Wearable CaptureSmall sample | n/a | n/a | n/a | 2 |
| Robot Task Evaluation & QASmall sample | n/a | n/a | n/a | 1 |
Base: Priced roles live as 1 Oct 2026 began and as 31 Oct 2026 closed, limited to employers followed for the whole window.
A change in which roles are open shifts the median just as a change in rates does. It tracks what gets advertised, not a pay rise for any single role.
Both ends need 3 or more priced roles before a median is shown.

Figure 6
Share of US on-site postings that state pay, where state law requires it and elsewhere
Do robot training job ads show the pay more often where the law says they must?
| US on-site postings | Stating pay | Open postings | |
|---|---|---|---|
| In states whose law requires pay in job ads | 67.3% | 220 | 148 |
| In the other states | 37.6% | 362 | 136 |
Base: 582 US on-site postings open on 31 Oct 2026 whose location names one state; remote postings are left out, since they are not done in the state they name.
Here a posting states pay if it gives any figure: an hourly rate, a salary or a range, which is what these laws ask for. The figures above count hourly rates only.
States counted as requiring pay in job ads on 31 Oct 2026: Colorado, California, Washington, New York, Hawaii, District of Columbia, Maryland, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Massachusetts, Virginia, Maine, Connecticut. Each law is listed with its state's own page (read 22 Oct 2026).
A law's employer-size threshold is not checked, so a posting by an employer too small to be covered still counts in its state.
A row with under 11.1 postings carries a small-sample mark and is left unranked: under that count, the average across all rows says more than the row's own postings do (a weight fitted on the counts themselves).

How it was measured
Every day this site reads the public job boards of the robot training employers and programs it follows. A single database query produces each figure for the window shown, and the live page and every monthly edition run that identical query. The note under each figure gives its base.
- Stating pay
- A role counts as stating pay if its listing shows an hourly number or an hourly range. Salaries, per-task or per-video pay and listings with no number are excluded.
- Advertised pay
- The hourly rate a listing gives, using the midpoint when it gives a range. A median appears only when 3 or more roles state a rate, and the middle half spans the 25th to the 75th percentile.
- Range ratio
- For listings that post a range, the upper figure divided by the lower one.
- Pay-transparency state
- A US state (or DC) whose law, on the day counted, requires employers to put pay in job postings, each read from the state's own page. States that require pay only on request or after an interview do not count. In this view a listing states pay if it gives any figure, hourly or salary, and only on-site listings whose location names one state are counted.
- Open role
- On a given day, a role that has been posted and still shows in the employer's feed.
- Kind of work
- A role's title and description place it in one of the seven kinds of robot training work this site follows, ranging from robot teleoperation and demonstration collection through egocentric capture, embodied-AI annotation, robot evaluation and fleet operations to AV and drone operation. Each kind has a page of its own.
- Window
- Live page: the 28 most recent full days (UTC). Edition: a single calendar month (UTC).
Limits of this data
- Hiring that happens off public job boards is invisible here, and some data-collection programs sign people up inside an app instead of posting a job.
- A posting does not equal a hire. Certain employers leave evergreen roles up for months, and others post the same role once per city or country.
- These are advertised rates. Overtime, shift premiums and bonuses can change what a worker actually takes home.
- The state-law view does not check a law's employer-size threshold, so a small employer exempt from its state's law still counts there.
Collection and classification of listings are explained on the methodology page. Freshness, completeness and consistency are tested daily in the data quality report.
Monthly editions
The live page spans the 28 most recent full days and updates daily. Every finished month also gets its own edition, locked two days after month end, so a number quoted from it stays fixed.
- Live page28 most recent full days, rebuilt daily
- October 2026 edition (you are here)Will lock when the next daily refresh runs
