Key findings
- 1
Cars and robotaxis are named most often: 291 of 745 open roles (39.1%) in the title or the description, ahead of robots (unspecified) (190); 72.5% of roles name a robot or vehicle in the title.
- 2
Among robots and vehicles with at least 8 roles stating pay at 2 or more employers, trucks advertise the highest median ($35/hr) and robots (unspecified) the lowest ($26/hr).
- 3
Avride names a robot or vehicle in 95.3% of its 43 open roles, most often robots (unspecified).
- 4
27.5% of open roles name no robot or vehicle anywhere they are read.

Robots and vehicles named in role titles
Which robots and vehicles do robot training job titles name?
| Robot or vehicle | Open roles naming it | Share of open roles |
|---|---|---|
| Cars and robotaxis | 291 | 39.1% |
| Robots (unspecified) | 190 | 25.5% |
| Drones and aircraft | 41 | 5.5% |

Sample. 540 of the 745 roles open at the end of 9 Oct 2026 name a robot or vehicle in their title.
'Robots (unspecified)' counts titles that say robot, robotics or teleoperation without naming the kind of robot. 'Vehicle' alone counts as a car, its usual meaning in these titles.
The median needs 8 roles stating an hourly rate; rows under 10 roles are marked.

Figure 2
Robots and vehicles named in role descriptions
Which robots and vehicles do the full job descriptions mention?
No data in this window.
Sample. 0 of the 745 roles open on 9 Oct 2026 have a full description read (0.0%).
A description can name a robot or vehicle it does not work on (an employer's product line, a past project): the figure counts mentions.
Many employers post one description per city, so a large employer's template weighs on the counts.

Advertised pay by robot or vehicle
What does robot training work on each kind of robot or vehicle pay?
| Robot or vehicle | Median per hour | Middle half | Roles stating pay | Employers stating pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trucks | $35 | $34 to $35 | 22 | 5 |
| Cars and robotaxis | $27 | $26 to $28 | 8 | 4 |
| Robots (unspecified) | $26 | $23 to $30 | 30 | 9 |

| Humanoid robotsSmall sample | n/a | n/a | 7 | 1 |
Sample. Roles open on 9 Oct 2026 that name the robot or vehicle (title or description) and state an hourly rate.
A robot or vehicle counts when the title names it or, where the job board publishes a full description, when the description does. A role naming several counts for each.
Medians need 8 roles stating a rate; a median whose priced roles come from fewer than 2 employers is marked and not ranked: it describes that employer's listings, not the work.

Figure 4
Control and capture equipment named in descriptions
Which equipment do robot training roles name: VR headsets, leader arms, head cameras, phones?
No data in this window.
Sample. 0 of the 745 roles open on 9 Oct 2026 have a full description read (0.0%).
Each piece of equipment is a published pattern over the description (EQUIPMENT in the method). A mention can be the main tool of the job or a line in a list of qualifications.
The number of employers says how widely a term is used: a count resting on one employer reads that employer's template.

Sample. 745 roles open on 9 Oct 2026, by the employer that lists them. Columns: the share of the employer's roles naming each of the 5 robots and vehicles named most often.
A robot or vehicle counts when the title names it or, where the job board publishes a full description, when the description does. A role naming several counts for each.
Listings only: a count of open roles, not of hires or applications.

Capture and annotation roles often name what they record (household tasks, a warehouse) rather than a robot: they are in the last rows, and the egocentric capture report counts what they record.

Method and definitions
The public job boards of the robot training employers and programs this site tracks, read every day. Robots and vehicles are read from every title and from full descriptions; equipment from the full descriptions of the roles whose job board publishes one. Every figure is computed by one database query over the window shown, the same query for the live report and for every edition. Each figure states its sample beneath it.
- Robot or vehicle named
- A role names a robot or vehicle when its title does, or, where the job board publishes a full description, when its description does, matched as whole words with the documented vocabulary (MACHINES): humanoids; robot arms and manipulation; delivery, warehouse and service robots; robots unspecified; cars and robotaxis; trucks; drones and aircraft; vessels; construction machines. A role naming several counts for each.
- Equipment named
- Control equipment (VR headsets, leader-follower rigs and data gloves, joysticks and game controllers), capture equipment (motion capture, head-mounted cameras and smart glasses, action and 360-degree cameras, smartphones), sensors (LiDAR) and operations equipment (tablets, laptops, forklifts), each a published pattern over the description.
- Pay by robot or vehicle
- The median hourly rate advertised by the roles naming it. A median needs 8 roles stating a rate, and is ranked only when those roles come from at least 2 employers; a median resting on one employer is shown, marked, and not ranked.
- Open role
- A role listed by a given day and still in its employer's feed that day.
- Kind of work
- Each role is classified from its title and description into one of the seven kinds of robot training work this site tracks, from robot teleoperation and demonstration collection to egocentric capture, embodied-AI annotation, robot evaluation, fleet operations and AV and drone operation. Every kind links to its own page.
- Window
- Live: the last 28 complete days, in UTC. Edition: one calendar month, in UTC.
What this data cannot tell you
- Employers that recruit without a public job board are not counted, and some data-collection programs enrol people through an app rather than a job listing.
- A listing is not a hire. Some employers keep evergreen roles open for months, and some post one listing per city or country.
- Many employers post one description per city, so a large employer's template weighs on every share read from descriptions.
- A description can name a robot, vehicle or piece of equipment the job does not use (a product line, a past project, a list of preferences): the figures count mentions.
- A pattern can miss a term written in an unusual way; nothing is inferred beyond what the text says.
How the job feeds are read and roles are classified: site methodology. How fresh, complete and consistent the data is, checked every day: data quality and coverage.
Editions
The live report covers the last 28 complete days and changes every day. Each complete month is also published as an edition, frozen two days after the month ends, so a figure you cite from an edition never moves.
