Who works on Waymo's robotaxis if Waymo does not post the jobs?

Mostly its fleet partners. Transdev says its US subsidiary has tested, deployed and operated Waymo's robotaxi fleets since 2019 in Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Austin, and Moove's fleet postings in Phoenix name Waymo as its partner. Both post the jobs on their own boards, and both are listed on this page. Waymo's own non-engineering jobs here are in its software quality operations team.

Do you need a special license for robotaxi jobs?

Not for most. The fleet support, depot and deployment jobs ask for an ordinary driver's license, because you move the cars around lots and on public roads, and the driving jobs ask for a clean record and years of driving history. None of the jobs on this page asks for a commercial driver's license (CDL); self-driving truck jobs do, and they are on the autonomous vehicle operator page.

Can you do a robotaxi job from home?

Rarely. Remote assistance, the job of helping a stuck car from a screen, is done from the company's operations center: Avride's is in North Austin and Moove's remote vehicle operators work in Dubai. Waymo's software quality operations jobs are the exception, some of them posted as remote in the US.

What are the shifts like?

Robotaxis run around the clock, so the jobs do too. Tesla posts its Robotaxi fleet support jobs by morning, afternoon and night shift, Moove runs its fleets 24/7 with evening and overnight openings in Miami, and the remote assistance and depot jobs rotate through the week.
