Motion capture jobs that train robots
Measured from 5 distinct advertised hourly rates, across 2 employers. 13 of these 20 openings give no hourly figure.
Robot makers hire people to wear motion-capture suits, gloves and trackers and do everyday tasks, walking set routes, picking up and sorting things, cooking and cleaning, so their robots can learn human movement from the recordings. No acting experience is needed. 20 jobs are open today at Tesla, TSMG, ALTEN Technology USA and Enact Intelligence, in 18 cities including Orlando, FL, San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX. We re-read each employer's job board every day, so closed jobs drop off.

Tesla · 14 open postings
Data Collection Operator, Optimus

- Walking 7 or more hours a day while carrying up to 30 lbs of equipment
- Hand-eye coordination, fine manipulation and the ability to walk up and down stairs
- Weekends and overtime, travel up to 25% of the time and daily regional driving
- Basic software skills for uploading data and writing reports, and simple equipment troubleshooting

TSMG · 3 open postings
Motion Capture Participant (robotics project)
Wears a VR headset and several small motion trackers, provided on site, and does everyday things on camera: walking, lifting, sorting, cooking, cleaning, packing and tidying, following the project team's instructions, so the movement data can teach robots. Posted in Toronto, Orlando and Miami.
- No experience needed: TSMG says it trains you
- Being reliable and on time, and comfortable wearing the equipment for a whole session
Enact Intelligence · 1 open posting
Robot Operator
Teleoperates Enact Intelligence's robots in Zurich through a motion-capture system, demonstrating tasks such as sorting objects and using tools over and over, so the demonstrations become the training data its models learn from.
- On site in Zurich
- Doing the same physical demonstration many times to a high standard
ALTEN Technology USA · 2 open postings
Data Collection Operator
Records robot training data in San Francisco for an ALTEN Technology client two ways: doing tasks with your own hands in a motion-capture suit and gloves, and teleoperating the client's robots through an Apple Vision Pro headset, then labels and checks what you recorded. The posting states $28.50 an hour.
- Running basic commands in a terminal
- Good vision without glasses (contact lenses are fine) to use the Vision Pro
- The stamina to record for a few hours at a time, with breaks

Frequently asked questions
Who is hiring for motion capture jobs?
20 motion capture jobs are open today: Tesla 14, TSMG 3, ALTEN Technology USA 2, Enact Intelligence 1, in 18 cities including Orlando, FL, San Francisco, CA, Austin, TX and Dallas, TX. We read each employer's own job board every day.
How much do motion capture jobs pay?
Across the 20 open postings, the ones that state an hourly rate put the typical pay at $30–$35 an hour, with a median of $30 (5 distinct rates from 2 employers). Each posting's stated rate is shown beside it in the list above. Advertised pay is not guaranteed earnings.
Do you need acting or motion-capture experience?
No. These are not acting jobs: you repeat everyday tasks and set movements the way the project describes them. TSMG's motion capture participants need no experience and are trained on site, Tesla trains its Optimus data collection operators, and ALTEN asks for basic computer skills rather than any capture experience.
What do you wear?
Whatever the employer provides. Tesla's Optimus operators wear motion-capture equipment while they handle objects and walk set routes, carrying up to 30 lbs of it, and some of its postings ask for a height between 5'7" and 6' or 6'3" because of the equipment; TSMG's participants wear a VR headset and several small trackers; ALTEN's operators wear a capture suit and gloves.
Can you do motion capture work from home?
Not these jobs: each is on site, at Tesla's facilities and test routes, TSMG's recording locations or ALTEN's client lab, because the capture equipment stays there. Robot training work you can record at home uses a phone or a head camera instead: those jobs are on the page for filming your chores.
