Is RemoExperts legit?
Mostly. REX is a working contractor network that pays its evaluators monthly, but nobody is named as running it, and its $40 to $120 an hour head-camera posts ask for a degree, an ID face scan and a camera you buy first. The main risk is paying and sharing before earning: you buy an Insta360 X5 and hand over ID, face scans and location data, then may wait weeks on the ID check or months for a project, and contractors report being cut off without warning.

Researched October 2026 · 17 sourcesIt pays $95–$115/hr for a typical job (median $105/hr).
Actively hiring, pay independently measured from its live feedREX's privacy policy names its operator as Remoexperts Inc. but gives no address, state of registration or officers, and we found no registry record. Its domains are young: remoexperts.com was registered in August 2025, rex.zone in September 2025. The Chrome Web Store lists admin@abaka-ai.com as developer of REX's monitoring extension, which points to Abaka AI, a data vendor led by CEO Tom Tang; neither site states the link.
Contractors are paid for completed, approved hours, usually monthly (some projects pay sooner), by Stripe, Payoneer or Wise. Each head-camera post sets one rate for its country, $40 in South Africa up to $120 in Singapore, without saying if an hour means footage or time worked. You supply the Insta360 X5, which launched at $549.99.

We found no documented case of someone posing as REX. Its real channels are rex.zone, portal.rex.zone and recruitment@rex.zone, it pays through Stripe, Payoneer or Wise, and its extension is Rex KeepAlive on the Chrome Web Store. Anyone in REX's name who asks you to pay for the camera, a kit or training fits the FTC's job-scam pattern: honest employers never charge to hire.
What people praise
- Contractors with six months or more on a project praise supportive leads and say their 'paycheck always comes in time'. Trustpilot notes REX invites reviews, and 17 of 20 posted from July 5 to 17, 2026 gave five stars.
- No minimum hours apply unless a project sets them, and you may turn down any project invitation, according to REX's FAQ.
- The capture brief is ordinary life, not acting: unscripted ten-minute clips of cooking, laundry, errands or yard work, each tagged with the activity and the setting, after training and sample recordings.
What people complain about
- Persona ID checks draw the most one-star reviews: rejections with no clear reason, repeated retries and support emails left unanswered. REX replies that its team does not directly control Persona's decisions.
- People who passed the exam and the ID check describe two to four months with no project and no update; REX answers that work depends on project availability, region and accuracy.
- Contractors months into a project report losing access with no warning; one says his last month's pay came only after he contacted managers on LinkedIn, and REX apologised in August 2026.
- Some exams and projects require the Rex KeepAlive browser extension, which REX says collects your IP address, a device fingerprint and GPS location; refusing it can make you ineligible.
What has gone wrong
- January 2026. A former evaluator who promoted REX wrote in June 2026 that its $100 per passed referral was paid at first, but a January 2026 payout came up short, went to a Payoneer account he never set up, and later referrals went unpaid. He adds that nearly half his regular payments were late or misrouted, though all eligible work was paid after he left.
Best for: Degree holders in one of the six listed countries who already own an Insta360 X5, accept ID face scans and location checks, and can wait weeks for a first paid project. Not for: Anyone without a bachelor's degree, anyone who would buy a $550 camera just for this, or anyone uneasy about a browser extension that logs IP address, device fingerprint and GPS location.
