Practise the AI screening interview for robot-training jobs

Some employers put every applicant through an interview run by software before a recording or labeling project opens. Choose the employer and the job type, type what you would say to each question, and see how the answer lands, with the follow-up you would likely get and a short list of what to work on at the end.

The formats

What to expect from each AI interviewer

The points below are what each employer publishes about its own interview, as our guides record them with their sources. Sorted by what an application there is likely worth to you, with a referral lift for employers that pay us a referral fee; your pay is never affected.

Sovrano AI AI interview

video · about 20 minutes

  • An AI video interview of about 20 minutes, in English, in Chrome.
  • Its AI interviewer asks adaptive questions about your background, and human reviewers check the result.
  • Each interview type allows up to 3 retakes; its Help Center says your most recent attempt counts, so retake only when you will do better.
  • It judges the quality of your reasoning: clear, focused answers beat long ones.

Mercor AI interview (Monty)

video · about 20 minutes

  • Most interviews take about 20 minutes on camera, in English unless the role says otherwise.
  • Questions are built from your resume and the job description, and probe deepest where your resume makes claims.
  • You can retake an interview up to three times across all applications, and a retake replaces your last attempt.
  • It reads a long silence as the end of your answer: if you need time to think, say so out loud.

OpenTrain AI AI interview

chat or voice · length not published

  • The employer chooses a text chat or a recorded voice interview, inside the proposal window on a computer.
  • It asks structured questions: your years of AI training, data labeling or annotation experience, your weekly availability and the platforms and task types you have worked on, plus the employer's own.
  • A voice interview cannot be paused, ends if two questions go unanswered, and can be started over once.

Turing AI interview

video · about 25 minutes on some roles

  • Some roles list an AI interview of about 25 minutes, then a resume and application review.
  • Its automated testing includes an adaptive AI interviewer; complex or high-stakes roles add deep-dive interviews with experts.
  • Turing gives no individual feedback.

micro1 AI interview (Zara)

video · length not published

  • Zara asks open-ended technical questions for the field you select, plus scenario questions about how you think and communicate.
  • Some roles add a coding challenge or a human data exercise.
  • You press Done answering? Continue to end each answer, so you decide when an answer is finished.
  • You see at the end whether you meet the certification criteria, and you can request feedback if you do not.

Alignerr AI interview (Zara)

video · length not published

  • Many roles show a Zara AI video interview: a live dialogue with questions unique to you.
  • Coding interviews can include live exercises; language interviews are usually a conversation.
  • Take it on a laptop or desktop with the camera on: an interview with the camera disabled is marked Failed.
  • Projects are assigned on availability and your interview performance.

What the coach checks

What earns credit in an AI interview

The AI only has your words. It cannot watch you fold laundry or see how steady your hands are on a gripper, so it judges the evidence in what you say: that you understood the task, real examples from your own work (the devices, the hours, what went wrong and how you fixed it, “I” rather than “we”), how you would follow a detailed instruction, and whether all of it fits your profile. The coach here reads your answers the same way.

Claims anyone could make earn little. When a question goes beyond what you have done, say so and explain how you would go about it; that reads better than a confident guess. Most labs and fleet operators skip the AI interview altogether, and the interview guide covers how they screen too. If an “interview” in a chat ends with a request for a fee, a kit payment or your ID, it is a scam: paste the message into our checker.

Questions about interview practice

How should I prepare for an AI screening interview?

Rehearse how you answer rather than memorising lines. The interviewer adapts its next question to what you just said, so a scripted answer falls apart at the first follow-up. Choose the employer and the job type above, type each answer as you would speak it, and work through the changes the feedback suggests. Our AI interview guide covers your setup, what the AI can judge and what happens after a pass.

What happens in micro1's AI interview with Zara?

Zara, micro1's AI recruiter, puts open questions to you about the field you pick and scenarios that show how you reason and communicate. Technical roles can add a coding challenge and annotator roles a human data exercise. You click Done answering? Continue when an answer is finished, so no pause detector cuts you off, and the result at the end says whether you meet micro1's certification criteria; if you fall short, you can ask for feedback.

Do robot labs and fleet operators use AI interviews?

Mostly not. Humanoid labs, robot makers and fleet operators hiring for on-site shifts screen people the usual way, with a recruiter call and interviews, and vehicle operator roles add checks such as a background check, a drug test and a review of your driving record. Our guide's section on them lists each employer's process with sources. The practice here is for the data programs that do put an AI interviewer first.

Is this practice round the real interview?

No. The round copies each employer's published format, but our AI writes the questions for you, so the real interviewer will ask different ones. The real thing is usually spoken on camera, while here you type, which trains what you say and the order you say it in rather than your delivery.

What happens to my answers?

They stay on your device. The questions, your answers and the feedback are saved in this browser so you can pick up where you stopped, and our side keeps none of it: each answer is passed once to an AI model for feedback and then dropped. The privacy policy covers this tool.
